“Lenten Season”

Lent is a 40 day from Ash Wednesday to the Saturday before the Easter Sunday. It is the preparation of going a deeper relationship with God. It is something to do with some reflection and preparation of oneself for Good Friday and Easter Sunday.

Fasting, one of the major activities during the Lenten Season. It is giving up on something during the period. Not just on food but to what one has been into in his everyday life. Penance is one thing people has been doing during this time. They offer themselves to be slaves and have their bodies hit for a lot of times as an offering to God. They believed that experiencing what Jesus has gone through before and during his crucifixion will have their sins be forgiven. There are also other things that people have been doing like pilgrimage and Church Visits or the Vicita Iglesia

During the pandemic, there are things that the IATF has prohibited to be done. Large processions, pilgrimage, Vicita Iglesia. These things are ones that were not observed during the pandemic because the government prohibits mass gatherings. This is because the transmission of the Covid-19 virus is very easy.

Even though we cannot celebrate the Lenten Season the way we used to, we can always prepare ourselves for the repentance that we have to make. Let’s begin in our own hearts and minds. Doing what is rightful and according to our conscience. Do things in God’s will even if it is not the Lenten Season. Why do we have to wait for this season to make repentance and follow the Law of Moses? Let us make everyday a lent day.
