Mother's Day

Mother’s Day has been a tradition throughout the world. Mother’s Day is a holiday originated in United States, where it is observed on the second Sunday in May. A celebration for mothers but not only for those mothers who gave birth to a child but also to mother like figures like those who takes care pf children in the absence of the real mother. A brief history of Mother’s day can be traced back to the ancient Greeks and Romans, who held festivals in honor of the mother goddesses Rhea and Cybele, but the clearest modern precedent for Mother’s Day is the early Christian festival known as “Mothering Sunday.”

In the Philippines, we celebrate Mother’s Day by going out for dinner and treating our moms for something sumptuous. Others cook for their moms their favorite meals. Some give bouquet of flowers and different gifts.  Though it is not necessary to give gifts to our mothers for this celebration but it is our way to show them the love we can give back.

This celebration shows that we honor every mother for their efforts, love and sacrifices for us. This celebration is being observed as a sign of gratitude. A giving back time.
